Ghanaian consumers could face another fuel price surge from August 1 as the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) warns of significant increases in petrol, diesel and LPG prices. Diesel prices are expected to experience an even steeper rise after its FOB price jumped by 24.84%, moving from $974.40 per metric tonne to $1,216.45 per metric tonne. LPG prices are also expected to increase, following a 12.24% rise in its international FOB price from $545.65 per metric tonne to $612.45 per metric tonne. COPEC projects that LPG could sell at GH¢13.80 per kilogramme, with prices expected to fall between GH¢13.11 and GH¢14.49 per kilogramme. COPEC warned that without intervention, the new prices could further increase financial pressure on households and businesses already facing high operating costs.
