Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has warned of widespread water supply interruptions after persistent electricity challenges forced several of its treatment plants and pumping stations to shut down. The utility company blamed the disruptions on ongoing problems affecting the Ghana Grid Company’s (GRIDCo) National Interconnected Transmission System, saying the unstable power supply has severely affected its operations. The company said customers in several affected areas should expect interruptions in potable water supply until electricity is fully restored. Ghana Water apologised for the inconvenience, describing the situation as beyond its control, and assured the public that its technical teams are ready to resume full operations once power supply stabilises. The company said it is working closely with power sector agencies to monitor the situation and restore normal water production and distribution at the earliest opportunity.
