A major disturbance on Ghana’s National Interconnected Transmission System triggered widespread power outages across the country early Wednesday, prompting GRIDCo to launch an investigation into the incident. The Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) said the disturbance occurred at approximately 3:11 a.m., causing several power generation plants to trip simultaneously and interrupting electricity supply to affected areas. GRIDCo also announced that a detailed technical investigation has begun to establish the exact cause of the system failure. The company apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured the public that every effort is being made to restore electricity to all affected customers as quickly as possible. GRIDCo said it will continue to provide updates as investigations and restoration efforts progress.
