The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the appointment of General Officers Commanding (GOCs) to the newly established Nigerian Army Divisions. Naija News reports that the appointments follow the approval by President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of four additional Divisions. “Consequently, the Nigerian Army has undertaken a comprehensive reorganisation of its Divisional Areas of Responsibility,” the statement read. The statement added that in order to strengthen the newly established divisions, three new brigades were equally activated. He noted that the establishment of the additional Divisions represents a historic milestone in the transformation of the Nigerian Army and reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening national defence architecture.
