Two fires burned in northeast Calgary within 10 kilometres of each other causing plumes of noticeable black smoke to fill the sky Tuesday night. Kwan says crews were able to knock down the fire after setting up a water tower. A pair of cats were rescued and one individual was treated for smoke inhalation. Just 10 minutes after receiving the house fire report, authorities took another call about a structure fire off of 16 St. NE, involving a business undergoing work. Kwan says, “when our crews arrived on scene there were workers on the roof that quickly self evacuated because the flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof area.”
