Betty Thomas, 78, used fentanyl patches for almost three weeks after allegedly getting another customer’s prescription from a Decatur Publix pharmacist.
Thomas told 11Alive, “I’m throwing up, I’m nauseous, I’m dizzy, I can’t go to the bathroom, I’m sick.”
That was when he discovered she had been prescribed fentanyl patches meant for Betty Davis rather than her own medication.
“We were all afraid we were going to lose you,” Deanna Thomas told her grandmother.
Meanwhile, she and her granddaughter have handed over the fentanyl patches to a police department to ensure they are disposed of properly.
