On July 28, 2026, Pan-European regional low-cost carrier Volotea announced that it will open a new base at Raffaello Sanzio Marche Airport (AOI), in Ancona, on Italy’s Adriatic coast, from December 2026.
Ancona, which will create 30 new direct jobs locally, will become Volotea’s 22nd base in Europe, although the carrier has served the airport from some of its other bases since 2012.
Volotea currently flies to Ancona from three other airports in Italy, Catania (CTA), and Palermo (PMO), on the island of Sicily, and Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) in Sardinia.
Volotea will continue to operate to these destinations when the new base is operative.
What will be new, however, is that an Airbus A320 aircraft will be permanently based in Ancona.
