While in county office, Menefee fought President Donald Trump’s mandates, including successfully suing Trump for withholding healthcare funds for refugees. He fended off the state’s challenges to county election results and sued companies responsible for creosote and concrete batch contamination in the low-income and predominantly Black communities in Houston. Texas 18 has the largest number of SNAP recipients of any district in the state of Texas. People want to be able to make enough money to have money in the bank if something happens to their health. He’s continuing to work to earn the support of Black communities.
