Union MinisterJitendra Singh introduced the bill on 27th, after the copies of the bill were circulated to members of Parliament on July 25. Citing official data, the Minister said 52 FIRs have been registered under the anti-paper leak law since 2024. When Rahul Gandhi accused Home Minister Amit Shah of authorising police action against students protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, it triggered sharp protests from the BJP and NDA and demanded that Rahul Gandhi apologise.
