The Slater School Board took time during their meeting Tuesday, July 28 to reflect on the passing of board member Jason Stockman. Stockman, who was first elected to the board in 2015, passed away July 4 at the age of 51. Dr Terry Lorenz says Stockman was always willing to help the school and Slater community out. Lorenz says the board voted Tuesday to begin contacting potential candidates to fill the remaining eight months of the term by appointment. The Slater School Board will next meet Aug. 18, with the annual tax rate hearing scheduled for 5 p.m.
