ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT — The Albany County Sheriff’s Office said five inmates now face felony charges after investigators said they assaulted and robbed another inmate inside the county jail. According to police, sheriff’s investigators made the arrests July 28 after investigating an attack and robbery inside the Albany County Jail on July 9. Investigators said the group used force to remove the inmate from the housing unit and stole his commissary items. All five inmates were charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree conspiracy. The release said Ramsey, Welcome and Robinson will be arraigned in court next week.
