A new zebra crossing will be installed outside of Blackrod Church School, Blackrod, with work set to commence on August 3. The crossing outside of Blackrod Primary School will also be upgraded to a pelican crossing, and new yellow lines and clearer road markings will be installed on Manchester Road. Cllr Grant noted that, although Blackrod Primary School has a crossing already, the upgrade to a pelican crossing system should do even more to deter potential speeders. Blackrod Primary School is located on Manchester Road, one of the main roads in Blackrod, being the main entry and exit road. Vicarage Road, off which Blackrod Church School is located, is connected to Manchester Road, and takes drivers past Blackrod Community Centre and Blackrod Park.
