The pub, Henighans Eat & Drink on Bury Road, which was marketed August 2025 before being sold to new owners in December, could be transformed into self-contained apartments under proposals submitted to Bolton Council. Henighans Eat and Drink on Bury Road in Breightmet was listed for sale last January, after a decline in the pub's turnover. The planning statement says: "The proposal represents the re-use and adaptation of an existing building that currently operates as Henighans Eat & Drink. "The development has been designed to secure the long-term beneficial use of the property whilst delivering additional housing within a sustainable urban location." The planning statement argues the scheme would make effective use of a previously developed site in a sustainable location, close to shops, employment opportunities and regular bus services.
