🛠️ Year 10 students can study core subjects and technical qualifications, with workplace projects and visits tailored to local industries. Children will soon be able to study technical skills and gain workplace experience from the age of 14 under new plans announced by Prime Minister Andy Burnham. The Government also plans to change how school performance is measured so Ofsted recognises the quality of technical education and how well schools prepare pupils for work. He said: “Giving 14-year-olds earlier access to technical education and real employer contact is exactly how we close the gap between ambition and opportunity.” Recognising that academic study is not the only route to a successful and fulfilling career is a very welcome step.
