Penn State faculty, researchers, outreach staff, evaluators, and graduate students recently wrapped up their “Shaping AI in Education: A Pennsylvania Listening and Learning Tour” to guide artificial intelligence (AI) policy and programming for K-12 schools across the state.
A comprehensive report for the Pennsylvania Department of Education will summarize outcomes, evaluation findings, and recommendations to support statewide AI use in K-12 education.
“With data collected from Penn State's tour, we aim to help the commonwealth develop thoughtful, research-informed direction grounded in educators' and administrators' voices and local context.”
According to the Penn State news release, the initiative organizes four interconnected dimensions — AI policy development, transformative opportunities for personalized learning and AI literacy, reducing administrative burdens, and workforce implications.
Participants described the sessions as hopeful, informative, engaging, and potentially impactful for AI work in various school districts.
