Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, on Wednesday indicated he was not prepared to back acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for a permanent appointment to the post. Cornyn, who sits on the Judiciary Committee, has sought to extract concessions from the Trump administration in exchange for his support for advancing Blanche's nomination. “I haven’t seen a single piece of writing that is responsive to what I’ve requested," Cornyn said Wednesday, according to Politico. Blanche is set to face a committee vote on Thursday and Cornyn has indicated that Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the committee chairman, set a 4 p.m. deadline for Cornyn to indicate whether he would back Blanche. Cornyn recently lost reelection to a Trump-backed challenger in the form of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
