New Investment To Boost Otago Predator ControlHon Minister Tama PotakaMinister of ConservationOtago is the latest region to benefit from the Government’s next phase of Predator Free 2050, with a $3.9 million investment to expand successful predator elimination around Dunedin, Conservation Minister Tama Potaka says.
The investment follows $5.5 million for Wellington and $10 million for Auckland, building momentum behind proven predator-free projects across New Zealand.
Predator Free Dunedin has already successfully removed possums from the Otago Peninsula.
It will also help protect the Otago Peninsula’s possum-free status through stronger biosecurity, monitoring and rapid responses to predator incursions.
“This investment backs that success and helps build the next chapter of Predator Free 2050.”
