Why won’t Oakland release transparency reports about city contracts?

Last week, the City Council wrapped up its business for the first half of the year and began a two-month recess.
All city contracts worth $250,000 and up require City Council authorization at a public meeting.
But Oakland hasn’t published an annual contracts report since October 2023.
In May, Mayor Barbara Lee announced that City Administrator Jestin Johnson was resigning in the wake of a texting scandal.
His successor, Betsy Lake, only officially took the reins as interim city administrator two weeks ago.
