Elk Valley Resources (EVR) and Fernie Search and Rescue (FSAR) July 28 announced a $100,000 donation by EVR to support the replacement of FSAR’s Class-D Fixed Line (CDFL) helicopter rescue system, a critical tool that enables rapid response in some of British Columbia’s most challenging terrain. The funding will help FSAR replace its current CDFL system, which has been in service since 2017 and supported more than 100 rescue missions across the East Kootenay. FSAR is one of a limited number of search and rescue groups in British Columbia equipped to provide this specialized rescue capability. “Our current CDFL system has played a key role in helping save numerous lives. The organization includes ski patrollers, paramedics, mountain guides, fire rescue personnel and mine rescue team members, including volunteers from EVR operations.
