A Springfield, Missouri, man has admitted in federal court to operating a fraudulent time-share exit scheme and failing to pay employment taxes tied to several businesses he owned.
Brian Scroggs, 54, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush to one count of wire fraud and one count of failure to pay employment taxes.
According to the plea agreement, Scroggs owned and operated several time-share exit companies, including Vacation Consulting Services LLC, The Transfer Group, VCS Communication LLC, and Real Travel LLC.
In addition to the fraud involving the time-share businesses, Scroggs employed numerous sales and administrative workers.
Authorities also said Scroggs failed to pay the employer’s required matching tax contributions.
