Crossroads Correctional Center reports inmate death

The Missouri Department of Corrections is investigating the death of a resident at Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron.
The department reported that the resident was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the correctional facility.
The 73-year-old resident was serving a nine-year sentence after being convicted in Phelps County of sexual misconduct involving a child younger than 15.
The resident entered the Missouri Department of Corrections on June 22, 2021.
The Missouri Department of Corrections said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
