In 1984, the movie Purple Rain reigned supreme. Last year, we, as Minnesotans, got a little taste of what that would look like on a Broadway stage. Based on the 1984 film that made Prince a household name, the musical version of “Purple Rain” has been in development for years. Not everyone will like it, or will complain that it didn't follow exactly what the film version was. The Broadway version is now being called "Prince's Purple Rain" and they have brought in a new creative team.
