NCDSS approved King and her family to receive SNAP benefits from Sept. 1, 2022, through Feb. 28, 2023, the DA said.
In December 2022, King received a $236,666 settlement check from a civil lawsuit and allegedly did not report the income, Donnelly said.
NCDSS again approved King and her family to receive SNAP benefits from Feb. 1, 2023, through Aug. 31, 2025, Donnelly said.
While on the program, King received approximately $54,417 in SNAP benefits, the DA said.
In December 2024, NCDSS informed King that it had discovered bank accounts in her name, and on March 2, 2025, NCDSS ended her SNAP benefits, Donnelly said.
