Morocco has strongly condemned the drone attacks targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of the kingdom’s sovereignty, according to a statement by Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. The attacks present a serious threat to Saudi Arabia’s national security and the stability of the Gulf and the broader Middle East, the statement continued, adding that Morocco expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of “the aggression.” The ministry reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia and backed all legitimate measures taken by the kingdom to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and protect its citizens and residents. Morocco’s statement comes as Saudi forces and the U.S. Central Command launched a series of airstrikes on Wednesday on sites in Iraq linked to armed groups affiliated with Iran, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced. The attacks were in retaliation for the recent drone attacks that had targeted oil infrastructure in the country.
