(ODF/Courtesy)Fatal crash on Highway 26At approximately 10:37 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 31.5 near Sandy. The Freightliner was then rear‑ended by a white Volvo semi‑truck and triple trailer, operated by James Glenn Fisher, 62, of Medford. The 14 firefighters from Seaside, Lewis and Clark, Cannon Beach, Gearhart and Knappa were sent to Grant County to help combat the blazes. Over 800 firefighters still remain at the fires which sprawl over 4,000 acres and were 60% contained Tuesday, according to the Oregon State Fire Marshal. The selected artist will be announced in August, with project completion anticipated around Sept. 1, 2026.
