Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “personal attention” to the Assam flood, which has claimed 68 lives so far while over 4.45 lakh people continue to reel under the deluge. He said the state government has been able to reach all affected villages and was working on a war footing to provide relief to the flood-hit population. Sharing Modi’s post on X on reviewing the deluge with Union ministers and BJP MPs from the state, Sarma said, “Adarniya Pradhan Mantri ji, thank you for your personal attention to this matter and taking on-the-ground updates regarding the Assam floods.” “Under your leadership, we are working on a war footing to provide relief to our people, and so far we have been able to reach every affected village,” the chief minister said. The prime minister had called up Sarma on Saturday to enquire about the prevailing situation and offered full support to the Assam government in dealing with the ongoing flood havoc.
