External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said both sides acknowledged the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity in the India-China border areas. On India and China deciding to resume border trade through Nathu La, Jaiswal said: “This is matter which was agreed between two side last year. In August 2025, Both sides agreed to the re-opening of border trade through the three designated trading points, namely Lipulekh Pass, Shipki La Pass and Nathu La Pass.” Modi and Xi held extensive talks on the sidelines of the SCO summit. In the meeting, Modi said India is committed to taking forward its ties with China based on mutual trust, respect and sensitivity.
