Vermilion looks to recoup missed taxes on oil properties

The Town of Vermilion is applying for a provincial tax credit to recover unpaid education property taxes.

“Currently, the Town of Vermilion has three properties that we will apply for under this program,” said Marilyn Lavoie, the town’s director of corporate services.
Lavoie noted the town couldn’t find records showing it had applied for the credit from 2019 onwards.
Council passed a motion to support the submission to the Provincial Education Requisition Credit.
