SAFFORD — The exterior of the Safford Library will soon have a new look. During Monday’s meeting, the Safford City Council unanimously awarded the contract to paint a mural on the library’s north exterior wall to Molly Keen. King’s proposal is “Tracks and Tales,” a painting of a train filled with books, incorporating thematically both the library and the railroad tracks to the north of the building. When Library Director Victoria Silva first brought the mural proposals to the council in June, the council directed her to get feedback from the public before the council made a decision. The council previously designated $40,000 for the project and target date for completion is Oct. 1.
