Lang7/29/26A sexual abuse charge has been dismissed against an Iowa City man who had been accused of sexually assaulting a child. Online records show the 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse charge against 20-year-old Carlos Lara of the Bon Aire manufactured housing community was dismissed by Judge Jason Besler late last week. Lara was accused of sexually assaulting the girl on multiple occasions between January of 2019 and December 31st of 2020. He was also accused of sending the photos to others and the girl’s mother. On Tuesday, Judge Jason Burns sentenced Lara to two years in prison on the harassment charge and dismissed the extortion charge.
