Jenny Birchall, who died in July at the age of 78, earned iconic status for her whimsical paintings on wood depicting life along the Cornish coastline. Ms Birchall was born and raised in London and studied at Twickenham Art College before moving to Cornwall in 1987. She spent the rest of her life living and working in the county, becoming a beloved figure in the region’s art scene. Her work was sold nationwide, including in prestigious galleries such as the New Craftsman in St Ives.
