The abuse continued for five years, and it wasn't much longer before he was groomed online by someone he met via Xbox. "I'd been conditioned and didn’t think it was abnormal but he was 25 and I was 14," Mr Witt said. When asked what he would say to someone who has experienced sexual abuse, Mr Witt urged other survivors to come forward. "I was in Year 7 when I tried cannabis for the first time and I instantly found an escape," Mr Witt said. The grooming was looked into by police, but Mr Witt said he was living hundreds of miles away and struggling with substance abuse at the time.
