Things are going to be running on the quiet side through later Thursday around our area, although we will have an unwelcome guest make a return later today and into early Thursday. High pressure at the surface will remain in place across the Great Lakes Region, keeping things quiet around here for the next 36 hours or so. Skies today will remain on the clear to partly cloudy side through the day today, with just a slight chance of a pop-up shower closer to I-35 if any clouds can run away a bit and puff up enough. Winds will be fairly light as well, which, combined with sinking air, will set the stage for the return of wildfire smoke. We’ll likely see the smoke thicken after 5 PM or so, and it will likely last into early Thursday.
