Swimmer Nikoli Blackman won Trinidad and Tobago’s first gold medal of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games when he won the men’s 50m freestyle at the Juan Pablo Duarte Aquatic Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Tuesday night. Colombian Kevin Quintero also won his semifinal against Guadeloupe’s Matthias Sylvanise in two straight rides, the first by 0.099 seconds, and the second ride, by 0.248 seconds. The 27-year-old Quintero won the gold medal in two straight rides over his countryman Ortega, 25, winning the first by 0.091 seconds, and the second ride, by 0.025. However, in the second ride, Browne won convincingly in 11.484, with Verdugo, trailing by 0.774 seconds to set up the third and decisive ride which Browne won in 10.935 seconds, with Verdugo trailing by 0.107 seconds.
