Over a year after Northlight Theatre broke ground for its new Evanston facility, the theater opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning. Northlight Theatre was established as the Evanston Theatre Company in 1974, originally located on Green Bay Road in Evanston. He said Northlight plans to collaborate with other Evanston theater organizations in the future, as well expand its partnership with Northwestern. Northlight Theatre runs five shows a year, and it will open with “The Front Page” on Sept. 9, with plans to photograph the new venue’s inaugural cast and frame the picture in the building’s lobby.
