Operation FANSAN YAMMA has foiled coordinated kidnap attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr Aminu Yusuf, and 21 other civilians during separate military operations. The operations, carried out by troops of Sector 2, formed part of the military’s ongoing offensive against terrorist groups operating across Nigeria’s North-West. Troops arrived swiftly, engaged the attackers with superior firepower, and forced them to abandon the operation, rescuing Dr Yusuf and his family without injury. The rapid response prevented what could have become another high-profile kidnapping in Zamfara’s volatile security environment. In a second operation on the same day, troops responded to another distress call from Tungan Dorawa in Barkeji Village, where terrorists attempted to abduct residents.
