The Buckinghamshire Dialect Digital Dictionary has launched just in time for Buckinghamshire Day on July 29, offering a growing archive of the county’s unique words and phrases. Created by Talk Dialect, the online resource was developed after the group’s Dialect Rescue pilot study found that Bucks had the fewest recorded dialect words of any English county—a total of only 105. Nikki Wordsmith, founder of Talk Dialect, said: "This dictionary isn't a dusty textbook; it's an interactive, community-owned time capsule. According to Talk Dialect, the dictionary is just one part of a broader mission to connect generations and encourage storytelling within families. Talk Dialect describes the dictionary as “entirely free to access,” and says it hopes the resource will help bridge generational gaps while celebrating the county’s evolving identity.
