ABC has renewed the series for Season 25 with auditions kicking off next month. The renewal is not a surprise given that the previous season launched with its biggest season premiere in four years. What is somewhat surprising is Disney leaning into the fact that it is heading into Season 25, given that 15 of those seasons aired on Fox. ABC, which rebooted the show in 2018, for instance, referred to the most recent season as Season 9. Deadline understands that this trio is expected to return for Season 25, although their deals are still being worked out, as is usual for Idol.
