Spain defender Marc Cucurella has fulfilled his promise to head coach Luis de la Fuente by getting a permanent tattoo of the World Cup-winning manager following La Roja’s triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Cucurella made the pledge before the tournament, vowing to immortalise De la Fuente in ink if Spain lifted the trophy. That promise became reality after Spain edged Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium. De la Fuente had jokingly reminded the defender about his pledge after Spain’s World Cup victory and welcomed the tribute with humour. Cucurella was one of Spain’s standout performers throughout the World Cup and also became a fan favourite for his personality off the pitch.
