This month, we tip our hat to those who have received Parnelli Awards for FOH Mixer of the Year. Parnelli Award winners are chosen by votes from PLSN and FOH subscribers, and several FOH engineers have won more than once. So while the 2027 ceremony marks the 25th Parnelli Awards gala, so far there have been a total of 17 front of house engineers in the Parnelli “FOH Mixer of the Year” winner’s circle. Big Mick HughesLongtime Metallica FOH engineer Big Mick Hughes was honored three times with Parnelli awards for FOH Mixer of the Year — in Feb. 2004, Feb. 2005 and Nov. 2009. After helming more than 1,500 Metallica concerts at FOH, Hughes passed the torch to the band’s current FOH engineer, Greg Price, in 2023.
