On World Hepatitis Day 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) is urging countries to accelerate efforts to improve testing, prevention and access to care to achieve hepatitis elimination goals by 2030. New data from the WHO Global Hepatitis Report 2026 shows that the European Region has achieved important milestones in hepatitis prevention and control. Countries that have invested in comprehensive hepatitis programmes demonstrate that elimination is achievable. WHO’s World Hepatitis Day 2026 campaign, under the theme “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down,” calls for removing barriers that prevent people from accessing life-saving health services. With continued commitment and stronger public health action, Europe can move closer to eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat.
