ABUJA, Nigeria: Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission, announced the conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise. Okay News reports that Wike directed the commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion cycle. The Federal Capital Territory Administration conducted the senior officer promotion examinations between July 1 and July 3, while junior staff testing occurred on July 10. Ezeh advised prospective candidates for the 2026 exercise that promotions in the civil service are merit based, highly competitive, and subject to the availability of vacancies.
