The Byes Toll House on Salcombe Road in Sidmouth fetched £100,000 in Clive Emson Auctioneers’ July online sale, one of 170 lots listed. Audrey Smith, senior auction appraiser, said: "This charming detached former toll house caught the attention at auction. The toll house was sold under instruction from East Devon District Council. Also sold in the region was Stretford Cottage in Weycroft, on the outskirts of Axminster. Clive Emson Auctioneers’ next online auction will conclude from 11am on September 24, with bidding is live from 48 hours beforehand.
