NEW Milton councillors voiced their support for a local care home which raised concerns for the safety of its residents crossing the road outside. Claudia Stephan, HR manager at Barton’s Engleburn, had contacted the council saying crossing the B3058 Milford Road was hazardous for her walking group of vulnerable people. Hampshire County Council had recently responded to calls for measures to address the concerns about that stretch of main road. Cllr Robert Maynard told Monday’s full town council meeting assistant town clerk Theresa Elliott had said the home could try getting ‘Slow down, elderly people’ signs put up. Cllr Steve Clarke said: “We should endorse this with our concerns about the safety of elderly residents getting out and about for exercise.”
