Temporary timetable to be introduced between London and Exeter due to dry weather
['Emma Holden']
RailAdvent
A temporary timetable is being introduced by South Western Railway and Network Rail Wessex from 10th August.
The timetable will be in place between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids due to the lack of rainfall.
The heat and dry weather have caused soil shrinkage and clay embankments to dry out, which are supporting the line and impacting its stability.
Class 159 enters the Tisbury Loop // Credit: South Western RailwayThis means that fewer trains will run due to there being only 6 passing loops.
Journey planners will be updated in due course, and passengers are advised to check full changes ahead of travelling.
