Stephen Bradley’s men suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg at Republican Stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan, Yerevan, Armenia. It wasn’t long before Shamrock Rovers doubled their advantage and levelled the aggregate score on the stroke of half time. Shamrock Rovers chased an equalising score that ultimately proved elusive and despite a gallant display at Tallaght Stadium, they just came up short. They were guaranteed a Europa League third qualifying round place before tonight, but miss out on a Europa League play-off round spot, plus a spot in the league phase of the Conference League.
