A homeless man who smashed the front window of a Kamloops business during a cold snap earlier this year was hoping to land in a warm bed behind bars.
That’s what a judge was told on Monday in Kamloops provincial court, where Christopher Lane Rhodes, 42, was sentenced after pleading guilty to a mischief charge.
Rhodes told police he essentially did what he did to go back to jail because he didn’t want to sleep on the street that night,” Potestio said.
The Crown wanted 90 days in jail, but Armstrong sentenced Rhodes to 2.5 months of house arrest to be followed by 30 months of probation.
