(Credit: Daniel Hayduk)Jazz Aviation LP, primarily under contract to Air Canada, has reached a tentative agreement with its flight dispatchers on Tuesday night, averting potential labour disruption ahead of the long weekend. The nearly 60 flight dispatchers working for Jazz, represented by the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association (CALDA), voted last month for strike action starting Aug. 1 if bargaining had failed. A strike would have affected the regional airline's operations of about 400 flights a day under the Air Canada Express brand, which carries about 20 per cent of the Air Canada's daily customers. "They remained focused on achieving an agreement that recognizes the important work performed by Jazz Flight Dispatchers."
