Hyderabad: IndiGo Airlines asked to pay Rs 35,000 after passenger's premium liquor bottle bursts on flight

Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission-III has directed IndiGo Airlines to pay Rs 35,000 to a passenger after his premium liquor bottle burst on a flight.
Bottle broke, belongings damagedAccording to the complaint, Vinith, a resident of Yusufguda, travelled from Delhi to Chennai on an IndiGo flight on September 3, 2025.
Before checking in his baggage, he informed airline staff that his suitcase contained a premium "White and Blue" liquor bottle worth Rs 35,000 and specifically cautioned them that it was a fragile item.
Holding the airline deficient in service, the Commission directed IndiGo to pay ₹35,000 towards the value of the damaged liquor bottle along with 9% annual interest.
The Commission held that the airline was liable for negligence in handling the passenger's checked-in baggage.
