Hyderabad: As Hyderabad prepares for rising water demand in the coming years, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has turned to Bengaluru to study a successful model of treating and reusing wastewater. The officials are exploring whether similar technology can be adopted to strengthen the city’s long-term water security. As part of this initiative, HMWSSB Joint Managing Director Mayank Mittal visited the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) in coordination with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) to study best practices in treated wastewater management and reuse. Focus on treated wastewater reuseDuring the visit, Mittal inspected the Kadubeesanahalli Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), where BWSSB has implemented a treated wastewater reuse project under the AMRUT 2.0 Technology Sub-Mission as part of the Pitch Pilot Initiative. He reviewed the project’s operational framework, including the sewage treatment process, reuse mechanism and the distribution of treated water.
